Korean
community in the Philippines has rapidly grown up last
10 years. It was really small one in the early 1990s.
Most of koreans here in the Phillippines was students,
studied medicine and dentistry. They have expanded the
area to all majors. We can see anyplace in Manila.
Other
koreans was also gathering here to provide full services they
need. Those are travel & and tour company, korean
grocery, korean restaurant, and karaoke, etc. Specifically,
language school business is boomming to meet enormous
demand in Korea. This phenomenon come from the globalization
led by US. Tool for the globalization is English.
That is why we korean have no choice but to study
English.
Korean community here was born in Malate and
Makati first. Mainly, they were korean restaurant operators,
Korean Palace Restaurant and Korean Village Restaurant
near Remedios Circle, and Korean Garden Restaurant at P. Burgos
St. Korean Village Restaurant has been famous with good
food & reasonable price among Manileños.
But
now we can meet all corner of any Street of Manila, Quezon
City, Paranaque, Las Pinas as well as Makati & Manila.
Big portion of residents in Paranaque & Las Pinas
are employee of korean company in Cavite EPZA. They are
mostly students who come to the Philippines for English practice.
But contemporary situation make it hard to define korean community
of the Philippines accurately in a word.
That is another
